More about Harold Telners,
"The Friendly CPA"

Why are you "The Friendly CPA?"

Personalized service is a priority for me. I have a passion for my work and for helping my clients.

I love accounting and have always had a knack for numbers, but I understand that many people think accounting and taxes are boring or mundane. Even worse, they might find them intimidating. I try to demystify the process, explain things in plain English, and help people understand and improve their financial situation. If that means spending a little extra time explaining things, grabbing a bite to eat together, or sharing a laugh, then so be it.

When a client calls me with an idea, I get excited for them and when they call with a problem, I suffer with them until we get it resolved. It's not uncommon for me to become close to my clients and you can frequently see me at my client's weddings, anniversaries, and backyard barbeques.

What is your experience?

I've always wanted to be a CPA. As far back as ninth grade, I remember looking at the want ads and seeing ad after ad looking to hire accountants. Recognizing an opportunity, and being a practical fellow, I thought an accounting job would be a good way to make a living. So I geared my high school classes, college education, and internships towards becoming a CPA.

When I received my CPA certification in 1984, I already had 8 years of accounting experience. Two years later, I started my own practice. Now, almost 20 years later, I have a thriving practice that handles both corporate and personal accounting in a wide variety of business fields.

What separates Accounting and Tax Services from other firms?

Like all entrepreneurs, I believed I could "do it better" than the other guy. I wanted to build a practice with personal service as the cornerstone. I found that a lot of accountants can give you solid advice; however, most don't have the personal touch that I would expect if I were a client. The biggest complaint I've always heard about other CPAs is that they never return calls. That doesn't happen at my office. We'll always call you back, usually within a few minutes, always within 24 hours of your call.

Also, if it's a situation with the IRS, I don't let it simmer. I get it resolved quickly. I realize that, whether it's your business or your personal finances, it's important to you. So we'll never leave you twisting in the wind waiting for a response or some action. If it's a priority for you, then it's a priority for me and my firm. We'll always treat your finances like they were our own with friendly, knowledgeable, and neighborly customer service.
